Photos of people in Ukraine tied to lampposts and sprayed with green antiseptic dye appeared on social media on Monday (21/3/2022). According to reports, the photos were taken in the Ukrainian city of Lviv. The victims were reportedly Roma or also known as Gypsies.
Several people, including teenagers and families with women and children, were reportedly tied to lamp posts with duct tape. Their faces were sprayed with an antiseptic dye known as “zelyonka” in ex-Soviet countries.
The green substance is very difficult to clean and can cause chemical burns to the eyes.
According to local media, the victims were convicted of trying to steal from passengers on the bus. However, there are claims on social media that they were just trying to steal food, as they were starving after fleeing Kiev.
